Shimla (at an altitude of 2,205 m) is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and is India’s largest and most well-known hill station. The town sprawls across the hills , the town centre is compact and is best visited on foot. There are good shopping opportunities along the Mall. The famous Shimla narrow gauge small train is a big tourist attraction. The line was completed in 1903 and has over a hundred tunnels and bridges.

Himachal Pradesh is divided into 12 districts , each having its own contribution towards its tourism that include tourist and religious destinations like the Bahadurpur fort, Bhakra dam, Naina Devi temple, Manimahesh, Bhuri Singh museum, Bharmaur , Khajjiar , Dalhousie, Sujanpur Tira, Dharamshala, Palampur, Masroor rock temple, Kangra fort , Kinnaur, Manikaran, Manali, Rohtang pass, Spiti, Shimla, Kasauli, Gobind sagar lake,  and more , all well connected with main cities.
