All visitors to India must obtain a visa before departure. It is their responsibility to arrange this for themselves.
The method for obtaining an Indian Visa is to contact the High Commission of India, in respective country, who will guide you to contact their authorised centre to process applications.
A tourist visa is normally 6 months and the validity of a visa starts from the date of issue and not the date of travel.
The Visa must be obtained before booking your holiday and in addition if planning to tour restricted destinations like the Lakshadweep islands, Nicobar Islands, please do let the High Commission of India know about it , to arrange the necessary permits.
